I felt like there was hope, and that this was only the start of what happened.
I wanted to know more about the rainmaker (background info).
I felt that there was more to the story and what P.K.could do as a boxer.
I felt sad in a way because of how much they went through to find Pk etc.
I felt that this movie had a good ending because after watching this movie you know it is real and you now know more about the world.

Questions I would like to ask the South African government of the time include (5 sentences minimum)

Why are they being treated like this? What if it had been your community?
What if you were put in their shoes for a day would you change your mind?
Is it worth doing than rather having world peace? (is it worth the fight)
Do you not think that this is not fair, and that they should have a word in this?
Would you rather all of us be the same, and have the same emotions etc, than not have differences in people.

The most significant episode in the film was (5 sentences minimum):

I thought that the most interesting scene was when PK was running away from the soldiers that were trying to find him. And that everyone was trying to keep them away even if it meant getting hurt etc. They did this because of the name that Pk was given by geel piet the RainMaker, Giving them hope to end the Apartheid. There was a lot of different shots in this scene making it feel realistic like hand held camera.

It made me think (3 sentences):

How could people be so cruel to their same kind.
What would have happened if they swapped places?
Was this movie a true story (PK)
What could have been differently?

It made me feel (3 sentences):

How real life is and how some people make others spend it.
Sad because of all the people that suffered for technically nothing
Hope for the characters in the film for the future to come.

The most interesting character was (5 sentences):

Maria -
Because she thought about what was happening around her. And saw that this was not the right way. That others should be able to learn and speak our language and to read and write. And i thought that she felt that if they could read etc, that could help them stand up for themselves. She stood up for what she believed in, and risked her life for it. She also gave up the dance to help PK teach, she also brought her own things to share with there students.

The film taught me (3 sentences):

To stand up for what is right, even when your are told it is wrong. To stand up for yourself and others around you even if it takes a consequence etc. To stay confident in yourself. Don't believe everything that you are taught. And to be your self.

The Power of One directed by John .G. advinsen is a heartwarming and inspiring film sure to be enjoyed by everyone. There are many important objects that are in the film, this can be an example using symbolism, close ups, dialogue and sound effects to help show the meaning behind the important objects in the film.

(c) eXplanation of EFFECT on audience - what does it make us think or feel?

(e) eXplanation of COMBINED ASPECTS - how does it work with other aspects?
(f) Your link - with evidence - how does it connect somewhere else?

1S symbolism is used in importantly throughout the film. For example when P.K.s mother gives him the bracelet that symbolizes love to his father to his mother and now himself. The made me understand that maybe one day he will find love. The director used this scene to show us that P.K.  will always have somthing that his mother gave to him “love”. This combined well with the dialogue “ your father gave this to me when we first fell in love….” that his mother loved him. This reminds me of when people give them something that they will remember forever when going away for along time etc.

(e) eXplanation of COMBINED ASPECTS - how does it work with other aspects?
(f) Your link - with evidence - how does it connect somewhere else?

As well as symbolism, close ups were used in the film to  outline the important objects in the film. For example the home made hitler symbolized tattoo on botha's upper arm, the close up shows us that there is a deeper meaning to this tattoo as well as making a blood oath with P.K. The director used this scene to tell us that this character believed in hitler and wanted revenge on P.K. This combined with the german music in the background made it more realistic. This reminds me of when people might get a tattoo to alway remind them of something and also that people that do get one usually means something to them.

(f) Your link - with evidence - how does it connect somewhere else?

3S The dialogue that was used in the film is as important as an objet. For instance whilst pk is giving maria the ostrich bone bracelet that her mother gave to him he says “This was my father's………..I love you” whilst whispering. This made me understand that the bracelet was used to tell maria that he loved her. The director did this to show that even in toughest time you can find love however long it will take. This combined well with the background that gave it a secretive vibe. This reminded me of when Botha made his own hitler symbolized  tattoo out of hatred towards P.K.

(Optional)
4S  As well as symbolism, close ups and dialogue, sound effects are also used to importance in the film. When P.K is feeding his chicken after kids at  his school are trying to hurt him the chicken keeps P.K. safe and symbolises courage it shows that there are added sounds to make the chicken swark to scare the kids but also the chicken eating. This made me understand that sound  effects make the film more realistic as the director tried to use in places that are needed if the chicken doesn't make the right sound etc. this combined with the dialogue when P.K. is  talking to his chicken it shows that he is not scared any more and that he has gained courage. This reminded me of when in the film moana when she has lost faith but maui comes back to help her finish her mission making her stronger.

There were many important objects throughout the film that were used to show the importance of the objects, symbolism, dialogue close ups and sound effects. This film is a great inspirational film that is sured to be enjoyed by everyone in the family no matter how old.

SEXXXY 1

In The Power of One by John G. Avildsen, close ups are were an important technique used throughout the film.
For example when Pk is upside down hanging by a rope in pain whilst being struck by a rock Bortha fired with a slingshot, in a dark room while Bortha (the bully) and his students from his school are cheering.
This makes the Audience think that bortha had the chance to hang Pk up but also takes an advantage by also killing his chicken making him look like he wants Pk dead.
The director used this  important technique to show what the impact on Pk from what people thought of him.
This worked well with the dialogue with the students booing and chanting, and stopping their feet at Pk while hanging in mid air.
This reminded me of latter in the film when Bortha and Pk, near the end of the film, where fighting.
SEXXXY 2
Not only can close ups create an impact, but so can sound effects.
For instance, when Pk is at the boxing arena whilst training to be on a new team with blacks and whites, he starts to train, whist hitting there are sound effects to make it more realistic and scary.
This makes the audience think that are stronger than they look etc.
The director used this technique to show us how important and how extra sound can add an impact on people's reactions and the way they feel about what is happening.
This combined with dialogue of his friend encouraging him make it seem like there is hope for his upcoming event.
This reminded me of when he had to leave for his school and his mother said good bye and the sound effects of him walking away and the truck waiting for him.
SEXXXY 3
Music in the hang him up scene is an important technique used to to create an impact to the film.
For example when pk is standing in front of Bortha there is a american diegetic music going in the film whilst there are a large amount of Hitler's symboled flag around.
This shows us, by the music, that they are in full support of hitler and what he is doing.
The director used this to show the Audience that all the trouble that is coming with the war etc, is all landing on his shoulders because he is the only english person at his school.
This combined with the dialogue with what Bortha is saying, making it harsh on Pk.
This can be compared to when in the hunger games when katniss enters the arena for the first time and gets a knife thrown at her whilst her grabbing a back pack and blocking the knife with it.
SEXXXY 4
Not only does close ups, sound effects and music show important techniques, but dialogue is one of the most important film techniques used in this film, whilst giving information as well as a story.

For example when sgt. Boorman tells Geel Piet to empty the bucket which soon leads to them having a conversation and  Geel Piet on the floor , while sgt Boorman Threatening him “i will find out what your doing sooner or latter…!”
This made me understand that sgt Boorman had the power to eat him and eat poo, and that one day he could get beaten to death (as he does later in the film).
The director used this to show us that sgt had the power and that Geel Piet took the punishment for everyone else from swapping the bucket of tobacco with dirty water.
This worked well with the low angle long shot of sgt Boorman standing looking at Geel Piet with a weapon in his hand.
This reminded me of when Pk when he was talking with his boxing opponent the next night, making me feel scared and anxious.
